How it Works
The InSpace device is a balloon implant for the shoulder that is used for treating patients 65 years and older with massive rotator cuff tears. It offers an innovative, alternative solution to lengthier procedures with longer rehabilitation processes.
Through a minimally invasive arthroscopic procedure, your surgeon inserts the InSpace balloon implant that fits your anatomy into the appropriate space in your shoulder. When inflated, the biodegradable device will help restore the space between your upper arm bone and the edge of your shoulder. This will temporarily reduce the rubbing of these bones.
InSpace procedures offer patients:
- A shorter surgical time compared to other surgical treatment options
- Relief of pain related to tendon tears of the shoulder
- Improved shoulder motion and function
