Get Relief with the M7 MLS® Therapy Laser

We offer the M7 MLS® Therapy Laser, an advanced technology that utilizes the power of light to address a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Multiwave locked system (MLS) laser therapy is an FDA-cleared solution for relieving pain and inflammation. Treatments utilize dual wavelengths of infrared light to penetrate deep below the surface of your skin, into underlying bones and tissues.

How Does Laser Therapy Work for Orthopaedic Care?

Many patients find the treatment process to be a comfortable, warm sensation, akin to a gentle massage. This emphasis on comfort and ease is designed to make you feel at ease and less anxious during the treatment.

While some improvement is often felt after your first session, significant benefits typically develop over 1-3 short treatments, each lasting about 15 minutes.

You can expect a gradual decrease in pain and inflammation with each visit. For optimal results, we often recommend a series of treatments over several weeks, tailored to your specific condition.

Generally speaking, yes, you can use your HSA or FSA for M7 Laser Therapy. It’s considered a medical treatment aimed at alleviating pain and promoting healing. However, it’s always a good idea to double-check with your specific HSA or FSA provider to confirm their policies and requirements. They can provide you with the most accurate information regarding eligible expenses.

Insurance coverage for laser therapy can vary significantly depending on your specific insurance plan and provider. Some plans may offer coverage, especially if it’s deemed a necessary part of your treatment for a particular medical condition. However, it’s also common for it not to be covered or to have limitations. Our team at Vero Orthopaedics can help you understand the billing process and provide the necessary documentation to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. It’s best to call your insurance provider directly to understand your specific benefits.

That’s a fair question. While many patients experience significant relief with M7 Laser Therapy, everyone responds a little differently. Several factors can influence the outcome, such as the severity and chronicity of your condition. We typically develop a treatment plan that involves a series of sessions. If you’re not experiencing the level of relief we’d expect, we’ll re-evaluate your situation. This may include adjusting the treatment parameters, considering complementary therapies, or exploring alternative treatment options to ensure the best possible outcome. Communication is key here – please keep us informed about how you’re feeling.

While the M7 Laser Therapy is fantastic for soft tissue healing, reducing inflammation, and managing pain associated with fractures, its direct impact on the speed of bone healing is less pronounced. Bone healing is a complex biological process. However, by reducing surrounding soft tissue swelling and pain, the laser can certainly contribute to a more comfortable recovery during the fracture healing process. We’ll always focus on the most evidence-based approaches for fracture management.

The M7 Laser is a low-level laser, often referred to as a ‘cold laser therapy’ device. It’s designed to be safe and won’t burn or damage your skin or eyes during treatment. Both the patient and the therapist will wear specialized protective eyewear during the session to ensure your safety, just like we do with any light-based therapy. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities.

Yes, there can be a difference. The M7 system we have here is a multi-wave locked system (MLS) laser. While it can be used with a handheld applicator for targeted areas, the “robotic” aspect often refers to the precision and consistency it can offer. Some systems have automated scanning capabilities, allowing for consistent and even treatment over a larger area. This can be particularly beneficial for treating broader areas of pain or inflammation. Both handheld and automated delivery have their advantages depending on the specific condition and treatment goals.

While M7 Laser Therapy is generally very safe, there are a few contraindications. For instance, we typically avoid direct treatment of known cancerous lesions. Also, if someone has a pacemaker, we’ll take precautions and may avoid direct application over the device. Pregnancy is another situation where we exercise caution and may defer treatment or apply it in specific areas away from the fetus. We’ll always take a thorough medical history to ensure it’s a safe and appropriate treatment for you.

The frequency of M7 Laser Therapy treatments depends on the individual’s condition and their response to the therapy. Typically, we initiate a series of treatments, usually 2-3 times per week for a few weeks, to achieve the initial therapeutic effect. As you improve, the frequency of treatments may be reduced. Maintenance treatments can also be beneficial for chronic conditions. We’ll continuously assess your progress and adjust the treatment schedule accordingly. There’s usually no issue with having treatments in relatively close succession to maximize the healing response.

Most patients experience a noticeable reduction in pain and inflammation. You might also find an improvement in your range of motion and overall function. The healing process for soft tissues, such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments, can be accelerated. Please note that results may vary, and it typically takes a series of treatments to achieve the full benefits. Our goal is to help you feel better, move better, and return to your regular activities as quickly as possible.

A typical M7 Laser Therapy session is relatively quick, usually lasting anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated and the specific condition. It’s a convenient treatment that can often be easily incorporated into your daily routine without significant disruption.

One of the great things about M7 Laser Therapy is that it’s very well-tolerated, and significant side effects are rare. Some patients might experience a mild sensation of warmth during the treatment, but it’s generally comfortable. Unlike some medications or more invasive procedures, you don’t have to worry about systemic side effects with this type of laser therapy.

The M7 Laser utilizes specific wavelengths of light energy. This light penetrates the tissue and interacts with cells at a mitochondrial level – think of the mitochondria as the cell’s powerhouses. The laser energy stimulates these mitochondria, resulting in increased production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the primary energy carrier in cells. This boost in cellular energy triggers a cascade of beneficial effects, including reduced inflammation, pain relief through modulation of nerve signals, and accelerated tissue repair by enhancing blood flow and the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the injured area. It’s essentially jump-starting your body’s natural healing processes.

The M7 Laser is what we classify as a “cold” or low-level laser. Unlike surgical lasers that generate heat to cut or ablate tissue, the M7 operates at energy levels that don’t produce significant thermal effects. Its therapeutic benefits come from the photochemical and photobiological interactions at the cellular level, not from heat.

The M7 Laser often utilizes a Multi-Wave Locked System (MLS®) technology, which is a key differentiator. This means it can deliver synchronized pulses of light at different wavelengths simultaneously. The theory behind MLS® is that the synergistic effect of these combined wavelengths can lead to more effective pain relief and anti-inflammatory effects compared to single-wavelength lasers. It’s often considered a more advanced and potentially more efficacious approach to therapeutic laser.

As mentioned, it works by delivering specific light wavelengths that stimulate cellular activity, reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and accelerate tissue repair at a fundamental level within your body’s cells. It’s like giving your cells a little extra energy to do their healing job more efficiently.

In simple terms, laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused light energy to stimulate healing and reduce pain in various parts of the body. We’re not talking about surgical lasers here; these are lower-power lasers that interact with your body’s tissues at a cellular level to promote natural healing processes. It’s a way to harness the power of light for therapeutic benefit.
