Smart Care for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a common condition characterized by the compression of the median nerve as it passes through a narrow passageway in your wrist called the carpal tunnel. This compression can lead to a variety of symptoms and pain, impacting your hand and arm function.
Common Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Pain or a “pins-and-needles” sensation radiating from your hand up your arm, sometimes reaching the shoulder.
- Numbness, tingling, or pain in the hand and fingers (especially the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring finger), which often worsens at night or with repetitive hand movements.
- Weakness in your hand, making it difficult to grip or hold objects.
- A tendency to drop objects due to weakness or numbness.

Carpal Tunnel Release
When conservative methods don’t provide sufficient relief, surgical intervention may be considered. The goal of carpal tunnel release surgery is to alleviate pressure on the median nerve by cutting the transverse carpal ligament, which forms the roof of the carpal tunnel.
- Open Carpal Tunnel Release: Traditionally performed through a small incision in the palm, allowing the surgeon to visualize and cut the ligament directly.
- Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release: A minimally invasive technique involving smaller incisions and the use of an endoscope (a small camera) to guide the surgeon in cutting the ligament. This typically results in smaller scars and potentially faster initial recovery.
- UltraGuideCTR: Procedures with UltraGuideCTR are performed using ultrasound guidance to provide fast relief with minimized recovery time. The ultrasound delivers highly accurate imaging of the wrist anatomy for advanced precision and efficiency.
